The prevalence of tail damage on New Zealand dairy farms

We are currently working on a joint venture with VetNZ to assess the prevalence and risk factors of damaged tails across 200 New Zealand farms. This project which has been made possible by the Sustainable Fibres and Futures Fund is a big step forward in helping improve the welfare of dairy cows across New Zealand.

M. Bovis network analysis

Our team were involved in analysing the NAIT movements of all cattle in New Zealand as part of a project for MPI. The figure below shows movement between regions over the period of three months as an example of the scale and range of animal movement events.

What do cows and calves do when nobody's looking?

Our team led a research project (as part of VetEnt Research) in 2020 and 2021 across eight farms in the North and South Islands to identify how well cows were feeding their calves. The study involved 30 staff who ran shifts 24 hours a day over a period of two weeks per farm, on scissor lifts in calving paddocks. Want to see the results? Check our findings out via the links below.

I love their different, innovative approaches...their 'can we do this in a more innovative way' thinking.

They also provide us expert assistance when we're working with another clinic that doesn't have that particular required expertise.
